A BIT ABOUT THERAPY

I practice therapy you can trust in, where you can feel comfortable to talk openly and honestly. Helping you to move forward is the basis of my work. Please feel free to contact me if you are experiencing: depression, stress, anxiety, anger management, grief and loss, the need to improve the quality of your life, explore relationships or for anything else related to emotional health you would like to discuss. 

Therapy provides a safe place to discover the difficulties which have been holding you back. These obstacles may be based around  unconscious and based on unhelpful thoughts, past experiences, trauma and emotional patterns. With therapeutic support, the recognition of these patterns can be the driving force in finding ways to manage or remove these barriers, create solutions and put them into action . Emotional recovery can also lead to finally letting things go, creating dramatic and freeing new behaviours and feelings. Ultimately this kind of therapy is about real change.

Healing may start the moment you feel heard, valued and felt empathy with; where you can genuinely express what you are going through and holding onto. This process can build a better understanding of yourself, increase emotional management and resilience, raise self-esteem and your own self-acceptance. Helping you connect more deeply with others, form healthy fulfilling relationships, develop your own boundaries and address any damage around this. Small changes can have significant effects.

 

As an integrative person-centred based counsellor, I nurture a warm, empathetic and empowering space for you to discover and create the right solutions for yourself. I often use a combination of other techniques. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to challenge unhelpful beliefs and perceptions. This has been recognised as an effective treatment for depression and anxiety.

Or Psychodynamics to explore, process and heal from the impact of past emotional experiences. Though Some of these techniques, like Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) are less emotionally exploratory and more practically based which is a better fit for some clients. I also focus on patterns of interaction, as well as looking at finding closure and acceptance.
